The DraadloosWeb Network

Due to the quantity of Towers operated by DraadloosWeb, we have implemented state of the art remote monitoring & management tools to ensure the best user experience is always achieved. The remote monitoring tools allow us to remotely see status, usage history & location of each tower & wireless connection connected to it. This system stores the usage & connection history on our server to ensure detailed information about each connection can always be accessed in case of connectivity issues.

The core infrastructure is permanently monitored by means of our network tools & video surveillance to ensure minimum downtime. Wireless client connections (customer connections) are monitored on a less frequent schedule as this requires physical monitoring, whereas errors on the core tower infrastructure network gets reported from the cloud to the network administrators.

It is recommended that each client monitor their own connection & report any issues experienced on our helpdesk by logging a ticket on draadloosweb.freshdesk.com or sending an email to helpdesk@draadloosweb.co.za

Most issues, whether it is experienced on a tower, a fibre breakout or at a client's premises, can be managed & maintained by remotely accessing the equipment & resolving the error(s) accordingly. In the worst case scenario, the equipment cannot be accessed remotely, whereas a technician and/or a network administrator will physically troubleshoot the equipment & resolve the issues accordingly.

Upgrading of the DraadloosWeb Core Infrastructure

To always ensure the best user experience is achieved, DraadloosWeb invests alot of time & funds in the upgrading & maintaining of the core tower infrastructure network. This means that we regularly check, troubleshoot & maintain all equipment, cabling, etc. on our towers. All of our towers are equipped with battery backup systems, allowing us an average of 4-6 hours on backup power to keep you connected, after which a backup generator will recharge the batteries to keep the backup system going until power is restored to from the main feed.

We have recently rigged a tower to be powered from a wind turbine installed on the top of the tower, allowing the tower to function completely off-grid without the requirement of electricity from any secondary source such as Eskom. This will increase the lifespan of the batteries, as they will be permanently fully charged, and in the case where a technical issue is experienced with the wind turbine, spares are always kept on hand allowing us to swiftly resolve any breakdowns before the backup batteries go flat.

Limiting the amount of users per Tower

Because our main focus is the best possible user experience, we limit the amount of clients connecting to our towers. This allows the infrastructure to not become too congested, decreasing the chances of slower internet connection speeds.

The Best Coverage

DraadloosWeb operates towers all over the Hartbeespoort & surrounding areas, where our focus is to try & always have a 360 degree accessible ring core network, making Visual Line of Sight & connections much easier to achieve & maintain. This also allows us to switch clients between sectors without almost any hassle or without having to always be on the client premises to realign any premises equipment.

Redundancy

Our most important focus is redundancy. Redundancy means that we are trying to get you a route to the world wide web at all times, and with our very finely detailed configurations, our towers can mostly automatically switch to route traffic through each other in case of a connection loss, etc. This guarantee's the lowest amount of downtime possible.
